HEALTHY DECISION MAKING

ABOUT US

MISSION

The Health Education and Awareness Raising Together (HEART) is a student organization at Cornell University dedicated to educating middle and high school students in the Ithaca community in overlooked health topics outside their standard curriculum. By introducing an interesting and factual curriculum to local schools, we aim to empower students to have more confidence in their ability to make health-conscious decisions.

OUR STORY

During the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, we noticed a lack of accessible and accurate health information. The World Health Organization  describes this combination of misinformation and overload of disordered information during an epidemic as an "infodemic." We recognized that the health-related coursework we had previously taken at Cornell helped us distinguish between accurate information and misinformation amidst this infodemic. In response, HEART was created to provide a channel for students in the Ithaca community to receive information from our education in a more digestible and interactive manner. Our goal is to provide students with knowledge through credible curricula to support their ability to make healthy decisions.
